Lodz

Recently, Lodz has become an attractive city for the future investments. The influential factors:

  • Location in the centre of Poland and Europe in the middle of three transport junctions: motorway, railway and transport. Lodz has also found itself in the very centre of the express transport routes crossing built in 2006-2012 S8 (Warsaw-Wroclaw) and motorways: A1 (Gdansk-Rome), A2 (Berlin-Moscow). Thanks to the modernized rail routes connecting the biggest Polish cities and lately expanded Wladyslaw Broniewski's International Airport the central location of the city is used efficiently;
  • Short distance from Warsaw (125km) - the capital and the most important economic and cultural centre of our country;  
  • Low cost of running a company: lower prices of real estate and lease of office area as well as lower cost of employment in the comparison with other bigger Polish cities;  
  • High-qualified experts who may upgrade their skills in 21 universities and 30 institutions and research-development centers;
  • Wide range of public assistance programs - 4 assistance programs functioning in the city thanks to the decisions of city's authorities:
    • Program supporting new investments in production enterprises and forming new working places;
    • Program supporting new, big investments and forming new working places;
    • Program supporting new investments and forming new working places with the use of the modern technology;
    • Assistance program de minimis of Lodz city to support investments in new hotels and modernization of existing ones.
  • Well-developed network of other services within:
    computer-science, accountancy/consulting, recruitment, call center.

    Above assets and Lodz's potential have been appreciated by both Polish companies and well-known global enterptrises. In the last few years many companies invested in Lodz:
    m.in. producers of domestic devices: Bosch-Siemens, Indesit with subcontractors Prettl, Wirthwein, Coco-Verk, Hirsch, Gillette, Dell, VF Corporation, ABB, Polska Grupa Farmaceutyczna czy Hutchinson). Moreover, there were distribution centers set up in Lodz: Lincoln, Spedimex, Meyer & Meyer, Polska Grupa Farmaceutyczna, Rossmann, Raben, Clement, C.Hartwig and others.

    City authorities, together with the consulting group McKinsey & Company, created a project of economic development of Lodz city and creation of new working places supporting development and winning investors from the branch of domestic devices: AGD, Business Proces Offshoring, IT and logistics. BPO companies also exist on Lodz's market - the centers of office service belong to Infosys and General Electric.

    Lodz is a big commercial centre and the place of international fairs and exhibitions assisted by the modern Lodz-EXPO trade and exhibition hall. All the fair institutions together with the centers supporting business and development units organize about 300 conferences of different kind and range every year, 50 of them are international.

    Lodz is the city with well-preserved historical urban complexes like Ksiezy Mlyn or industrial-residential Izrael Poznanski's complex which was refurbished and turned into Manufaktura - one of the largest commercial centers in Europe. It gives the city a unique climate and character deciding about its identity as well as serving as the main tourist and industrial archeology attraction.

    Lodz is also a significant cultural centre with a firm position in the world because of many festivals like Four Cultures Dialogue Festival, Camerimage - International Film Festival and others.
